This comforter is lightweight, with a silky soft textured material. It looks beautiful! It is perfect for the summer months when it is hot but the central air conditioner in my house gives a nice, cool environment. It is very light material but appears to be good quality. There was no smell when I took it out of the package but I washed it before putting it on my bed. I washed in cold water on the delicate cycle then I put it in my dryer on low heat cycle. It held up well after washing.
